On June 20, 2016, the Staten Island Community Partnership Program sponsored a Closing Celebration for the members of “Sister’s Circle”. The “Sister's Circle “group is governed by Sandra Graydon - Long, ACS Deputy Director CFS CWP, Manhattan /Staten Island. The purpose of the “ Sister’s Circle “Girls group is to foster an environment where the group members would learn to have fun, but to also address some of the challenges that middle school girls face. Middle school is a transition period for students because they are discovering who they are. Some of the challenges that they may face during these school years can have a lasting impact. Bullying, self-esteem, peer pressure, and social rejection and dating to name a few. The focus of this group is to address some of these challenges, see improved academics, attendance and behaviors. The group members attend Berta A. Dreyfus, IS 49 located in the Stapleton area; on the North Shore of Staten Island and they are in the 6th – 8th grade and meet on a weekly basis. This is the third year for Sister’s Circle.
