On April 30,2016 The Staten Island Community Partnership Program and NYC Administration for Children’s Service, in partnership with the Port Richmond Public Library, has organized literacy event that encourages families to connect or reconnect to their local library. One of the goals of the Staten Island Community Partnership Program is to “Promote Literacy in the Community”. We are promoting literacy through supplying free children’s books through the joint support of the United Federation of Teachers.
Additionally we will supply free pajamas and a variation of other giveaways to those that apply for a new or replacement library card .We are promoting the importance of literacy, while bringing a greater awareness to the array of free and accessible resources and programs that are offered at the local library and in the community. Introducing and reintroducing families to the many services that are offered by the library results in supporting and strengthening families and communities.
