On Monday August 12th, the SICPP hosted ten volunteers who stuffed 150 backpacks with school supplies generously donated by numerous SICPP partners. The event took place at the New York Foundling’s Staten Island office. The backpacks will be distributed among 5 elementary schools in the North Shore 18, 19, 74, 78 and 45.
The event was a major success, thanks to all of our generous partners and volunteers who played a significant role in helping us to stuff 150 backpacks with school supplies. The determination and energy during the event allowed for effortless teamwork.
We had 10 organizations that were gracious with their donations including: 1199/SEIU Employment Center, Include NYC, Families on the Move, CAMBA, Staten Island University Hospital /Northwell Health, Community Health Center of Richmond, United Activities Unlimited, Administration for Children’s Services, Health Education Project, and Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America.
The donations entailed pencils, reading books, notebooks, sharpeners, crayons, glue sticks, etc. We are grateful for all the partners that donated and/or volunteered to make certain this event was a grand success.
